Road cycling route: Lugano, Alto Malcantone, Morcote and Carona
Without a doubt this is one of my favourite road cycling routes in Lugano. The route is challenging but beautiful, it has some hard hills with up to 20% gradient (don’t worry is a short section) but also some flat lake side roads where you can push or enjoy the scenery. The route takes you from Lugano to small Ticinese towns that will keep you distracted all the time. Among many beautiful places you’ll pass Morcote which is considered one of the most beautiful village in Switzerland.
Distance: 80km
Elevation: 1840m
Level: High
The beauty of cycling in Ticino is that you can find a bar to stop an have an espresso almost anywhere. The added bonus of this cycling route is that you will be able to enjoy your coffee in some of the most beautiful towns around Lugano. A mandatory stop is in Morcote, where you have plenty of terraces on the lake to refuel before the last climb but also the Alto Malcantone has some amazing places to stop. If you are looking to fill your instagram with nice sceneries, this is your route.
