Schwägalp Pass - Appenzell | Road cycling route

Discover the best scenic route in the Appenzell region, featuring some of the nicest roads surrounded by picturesque fields of grass and wheat, cows wandering freely, and the stunning Säntis mountain in the background.

The first part of the route goes through farms and the beautiful landscape of the Swiss countryside up to Appenzell, where you can grab a coffee and something to eat before the last climb and the highlight of the route: the Schwägalp Pass.

For the last climb, the route takes a side road that looks more like a gravel path, but don’t worry, it’s all tarmac. It’s an incredible road and you’ll avoid most of the traffic.
