Road cycling Route: Pollença - La Victoria - Cap de Formentor
Exploring the scenic landscapes of Mallorca on a bike is a must for any Cycling Aficionado and the route to Cap de Formentor is one of the most famous ones in the Island. With its pristine coastal roads, challenging ascents, and panoramic vistas, is not a surprise that this route captivate the hearts of all cyclists that visit Mallorca.
We started in the charming town of Pollença, with its cobblestone streets, centuries-old buildings, and vibrant local markets. We were staying at the Can Auli, an amazing hotel with all the luxurious any cyclist can dream of.
From Pollença, we followed a small back road all the way to Alcudia, immersing ourselves in the scenic beauty of charming farms that graced the landscape.
After crossing Alcudia, we reached the coast, ready to tackle the firsts ascents. The road unfolded along the seaside, treating us to breathtaking views over the Badia de Pollença, with the majestic Cap de Formentor on the opposite side. This particular section of the route has a couple of short yet challenging ascents and descents.
The road comes to an end at the Militar Base, and we make our return to Alcudia along the same path. Continuing from there, the road guides us along the Badia de Pollenca, leading us to Port de Pollenca. This flat section, accompanied by a dedicated bike lane, offers a pleasant ride. Port de Pollenca serves as an ideal stop to recharge and refresh ourselves before embarking on the highlight of the route: Cap de Formentor.
After refueling, it was time to start the most exhilarating part of our route: the legendary route to Cap de Formentor. At every turn, a new panorama unfolded before us: forests, a stunning beach with turquoise water, hairpin bends, palm trees, and, finally, the captivating beauty of Far de Formentor. It's crucial to note that the route tends to get busy with cars, so it is advisable to set off early or avoid peak rush hours for a more enjoyable experience.
The return to Pollença may not be the most exhilarating part of the route but is mostly flat. However, if you still have some energy left in your legs, I recommend taking the smaller roads between Port de Pollenca and Pollença city. These hidden routes offer a delightful alternative, allowing you to explore charming paths and immerse yourself in the surrounding beauty at a more relaxed pace. A nice option is to Cala Sant Vicenç.
