What to see along the way
During this route you'll ride along Zurich Lake, starting on the Gold coast Side and coming back on the opposite side.
The Highlight is defenitly the Sattelegg Pass. The climb is beautiful, with amazing views of the Alps and Lake Sihlsee below. Once you reach the top, there's a great descent into the valley on the other side.
On the other side the Sihlsee is an amazing natural lake, with a lot of great places to swim. This lake completly freezes in Winter.
If you have the time you can stop in Einsiedeln, which is a beautiful old town with a lot of history. Its known for its monastery, the Benedictine Einsiedeln Abbey, established in the 10th century
Where to stop for a break
If you're looking for a place to take a break while road cycling in Zurich, there are plenty of great options.
Rapperswill offer many restaurants and bars as well. Is only a third of the route and almost the end of the flat part. Good to stop to get water before heading to the Pass.
One popular spot is the Sattelegg Restaurant. After the climb this is defenitly a good place to stop before starting the descent.
There are also several cafes and restaurants along the Zurich lake, so you can stop for a bite to eat or a cup of coffee.
